Who has the directions?

In about the 10th year of our marriage, Rick decided to become a minister in the Methodist Church. He had been fighting the call for a large part of his life, but it wasn’t until, together, we made the decision to trust God with the direction of our lives. We hadn’t been doing too well in the drivers seat so we switched places with God, giving Him the front seat and the steering wheel to boot! It isn’t very often that we, being humans, would trust enough to give God both. It is most often that we think we want God up front, but we want to be back seat drivers. We haven’t fully developed the faith needed to “let” God create. God is so good at creating, all we have to do is look around us. Life, plants, animals…all of creation…works so perfectly to maintain and thrive with every resource needed for survival built within itself. It is truly amazing, the depths that God has gone to ensure our needs, those life sustaining resources that are all around us. What is even more amazing is that God did not stop with today. In other words, He has provided for life eternal through the shedding of blood, the sacrifice of His son. God does indeed provide! Pray and seek out faith. Faith develops from a nurtured relationship with God. Just as any relationship requires time and attention in order to grow, so does the relationship with our Lord. Jacob is one of many perfect examples of faith made from relationship. Jacob is not unlike us, but through life experiences with God, Jacob’s faith grows, becoming essential to his life, and God changes his name to reflect his character…Israel…meaning ‘he struggles with God’. Amazing Grace!
Jacob’s story is found in Genesis 25-50.
Matthew 6:25-34 is about why we shouldn’t worry but instead, put our faith in God.
Until next time…
